Our Salt Story
Our magic magnesium has a magical history. She Spray magnesium is harvested seasonally, in collaboration with Ancient Lakes, from the salt sanctuary that is Lake Deborah, who have been working with nature for over 70 years. Lake Deborah salt sanctuary was founded in 1944. Established by three brothers, Arthur, Jack and George Lister. At this time, their salts were hand shovelled into carts pulled by horses, and then packed into hessian bags. We honour our salt heritage and the lister brothers, through our hessian packaging touches.
Lake Deborah is a unique ecosystem and natural salt lake and salt sanctuary, located deep in the deserts of Western Australia. Our magnesium is provided in collaboration with Ancient lakes, who ensure that this sanctuary and fragile ecosystem is protected and that our magnesium is pristine, free from interventions and pollutants and harvested gently as not to disturb the natural elements.
We are, nature bottled. Our creation story is reliant on the seasonal cycles of Mother Nature. Westerly winds carry magnesium salts within sea spray, some 500 km inland. These winds then deposit the magnesium salts in river valleys of Lake Deborah. These salt deposits are created by the natural elements - the wind, the rain, the sea and the sun. Untapped, free from large interventions, with ultimate respect for the natural cycles and ecosystems, she spray magnesium is turned to the magnesium liquid in our magnesium oils, only by the magic of the sun.
And so, each year, the seasons repeat this entirely natural process. Our magnesium is created only by the magic that is, the wind, the rain, the sea and the sun. The lake’s remoteness and our supplier, ancient lakes, ensure that our magnesium remains pollutant free and unaffected by human activity. It really is, magnesium magic.
